RPGBoard's phpBB project is an effort to port over various features of RPGBoard to phpBB.  My main goal is clean code with less bloat, but with most of the great features found in the old RPGBoard.  phpBB RPGBoard comes as both a series of MODs and a "mega-MOD" that combines them all into one patch.  The mega-MOD is still in the works, but for now, you can check out the individual MODs:

Development is, of course, still on-going.  Here are the MODs planned in the future (somewhat in order):

9. Spacing Correction - Removes the extra spacing between quote/code boxes, and adds the ability to type two spaces after a period. (bugfixing some problems with quote/code boxes)
10. Spoiler BBCode - Add a [spoiler] BBCode tag that hides text until the user hits a button. (work in progress)
11. Death to Radio Buttons - Removes almost all of those ugly radio buttons and replaces them with select boxes. (work in progress)
12. Invision-style Fast Reply - Add a Fast Reply button that works exactly like Invision Board's version: a stripped-down reply box that hides itself until you hit the Fast Reply button. (planning phase)
13. Remove "Thank You" Screens - Removes most of the "Thank you" or "This has been done" screens, and just takes you where you need to be anyway. (planning phase)
14. Topic Preview - In the View Forums screen, you will be able to click on the actual topic icon, and it will show the beginning part of the last 50 posts, similar to Show/Hide Threads button on RPGBoard. (planned; debating on waiting for phpBB V3)
15. SpellCheck - Very similar to RPGBoard's version, which will use a dictionary DB to look up words, and spell check using the two methods it used in the last beta. (planned; debating on waiting for phpBB V3)
16. Country/Browser/OS/IM Icons - Adds the smaller 14x14 icons used in RPGBoard, on the avatar side, instead of taking up space on the bottom line. (waiting for phpBB V3)
17. Improved Stats - Some (not all) of the stats included in RPGBoard, especially the "score" (SQRT(Total Messages * Total Words)), which gives a better impression of how much of a regular the poster is. (waiting for phpBB V3)
18. HTML Tag Security Levels - Uses the RPGBoard-style HTML security of EXCLUDING bad tags (which can all be identified in the W3C specs), instead only including allowable tags (waiting for phpBB V3)
19. Bigger Textbox - This will adjust the textbox to the user's approximate browser window length. (waiting for phpBB V3)
20. Reason for Ban - This will add a reason for banning an user/IP, so that the user actually knows why he's being punished. (waiting for phpBB V3)
21. Human Format Time Zones - Instead of typing in your time zone; how barbaric :) (waiting for phpBB V3)
22. E-Mail Reply to Author - This is sort of the opposite of "thread watching", as it allows you to send an e-mail back to the author if he doesn't happen to be watching the thread. (waiting for phpBB V3)

The following will NOT be implemented as a MOD:

• File Attachments - One of the main features already in phpBB V3.
• Tier-based Forum System - I'm still debating this.  For now, there is still Ptirhiik - RPGnet-fr's Categories Hierarchy (sub-forums) MOD.
• Backgrounds - Most of this is in the UPS MOD, but I left out actual background images to save my sanity (as well as everybody else's).  It's bad enough to try to deal with background colors on their own.
• Dupe Protection - Should already be in phpBB V3.
• Longer Subjectline - Unlike the NT posting frenzies of the old threaded-style MBs, long subjectlines are no longer needed.  Besides the main topic, hardly anybody uses subjects.
• Save Messages - Should already be in phpBB V3, though I may add the auto-save countdown.
• Message Tags - The main reason for message tags was mainly for spoilers, but the Spoiler BBCode will fix that.  Besides, you wouldn't be able to put in message tags for anything but the primary message.
• Undeleting Messages - Unline the old threaded-style MBs, the "burning of thread trees" isn't nearly as common, so the likelyhood of deleting a message that you didn't need to delete is very low.  Combined with admins opting to edit bad messages or lock unwanted topics, it's all the reason I need to not implement this somewhat hard-to-code feature.
• Mailing List to Forum Bridge - Despite the great possibilities for this feature, it was hardly ever used at all.  Also, mailing lists that would need it are shrinking in number.
• NNTP/Newsgroup Support - See above.
• Ignore List - Should already be in phpBB V3, as a Friend/Foe list.
• Custom Bio Entries - I'm still debating this.  There might be problems with implementation, anyway.
• Header Styles - What?  This isn't a threaded-style MB any more...
• User Moderation - Should already be in phpBB V3.
• Thread Modes - Everybody is using "semi-threaded" now.  Get used to it!  (For the record, I don't think anybody bothered to use Hybrid mode, anyway.)
• Message Cache - No need; PHP is a lot faster than Perl on the web (as much as I hate to admit).
• Keyboard-typo SpellChecker - A bad idea that didn't match too many words, anyway.
• Profile Search Engine - This may already be implemented in phpBB V3, anyway.
